Corporate Jet-Setter: An Interview with Jigar Joshi, AVP-Administration, Samsara Capital, Mumbai

Q: Most memorable trip to any destination?

My recent trip to Kerala. Kerala was always on my bucket list. I visited Kerala in May 2018, with my wife. We started out with Cochin and returned from Trivandrum. We enjoyed the lush green tea gardens, waterfalls and Ayurvedic massage at Munnar; the boat ride, martial art and Kalari show at Thekaddy; houseboat stay at the backwaters of Alleppey and the beaches and temples at Kovalam. We just fell in love with the natural beauty and scenery of all these places. It has been our most memorable trip thus far, as we experienced many things for the first time on this trip.

Q: You dream of going to? My dream is to do an entire India tour, as we want to explore every part of our country.

Q: Favourite airline and why? I prefer Jet Airways. As per my experience, the airline is always punctual and there are no hassles with regard to handling baggage. Their hospitality is up to the mark and quality food is served. Their Jet Privilege Loyalty Programme is also a great feature of the airline.

Q: Best hotel experience and why? The Leaf Resort at Munnar was a great experience, for it has lovely spacious Swiss chalet-style rooms and mesmerising views of mountains and valleys from the balcony; a huge bathtub with Jacuzzi, a great pool and recreation area, reception and delectable food. We loved it all. Q: A place you plan to visit again? I am planning to visit Jaipur again, in November/December. I just simply love this place, as it’s a colourful city with many untold stories.

Q: A family vacation that stands out? Our trip to the beautiful city of Agra, which we visited last year. The wonderful glimpses of the Taj Mahal took us back to the Mughal era. It’s a place where we felt that love is in the air.

Q: Your best holiday with friends? The Goa trip is one of my best holidays, which I enjoyed to the core with my best friends. It is not much of a hassle to travel to Goa for a good vacation, as it’s not too far from Mumbai. Goa provides a languid and relaxed atmosphere, which makes it a splendid destination.

Q: Great food you enjoyed and where? My wife and I are fans of tasty, spicy food. On the way from Delhi to Nainital, we dropped by a restaurant called Haveli, for lunch, where we relished Punjabi cuisine and the delicious sweet lassi. The ambience was very welcoming.

Q: What to watch out for while travelling? It’s very important that you go well prepared while travelling. Research and reviews of places and hotels beforehand help to plan the trip better. Besides, it’s important you carry the basic necessities, particularly your medical kit. Always share your travel details with a close relative or a friend, so that in case of emergency help is always available.

Q: As a travel buyer, what’s your philosophy? Travel is important as it provides respite from the daily work routine. It allows you to spend quality time with your loved ones. A change of place, climate and environment gives peace of mind.
